Jaimee Gerrie is the Principal Agent of UPvision Consulting, LLC a Legal Nurse Consulting Firm and an Assistant Professor of Nursing for Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. With over 25 years of nursing experience Jaimee brings a wealth of knowledge related to professional nursing practice in the areas of clinical nursing, nursing management and leadership, nursing education, and legal nurse consulting. Jaimee holds national certification from the Institute of Health Care Improvement as a Certified Professional in Patient Safety. She has completed a Certificate in Legal Nurse Consulting from Brighton College in 2017. She is a 2011 graduate of Walden University with her Masters in Nursing with a specialized focus in Nursing Management and Leadership. She earned her Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from Lake Superior State University in 1994. During this time she has committed her practice to service in rural health. 

Jaimee believes that nurses must be actively involved ensuring that nurses are not just a contributing voice at the table but rather the voice as expert for nurses at the table. Locally, she has served on hospital and home health care ethics committees, high-school career center advisory council, president of the former Kiwanis of Sault Ste. Marie, board member for the Lake Superior State University nursing honor society, and board member for Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Chi Omega Chapter. As a nurse educator Jaimee role models the responsibility of professional service for students. She currently serves as a member of the University Curriculum Committee, a member of the School of Nursing Curriculum and Outcomes committee, and chair of the on-line BSN completion task force in the School of Nursing. In her faculty role she has also served as the Chair of the University Shared Governance Oversight Committee, as a member of the President's Council, and as a member of the Provost's Council among other various committees throughout her years of service. She is also a Past President of the LSSU Faculty Association serving two terms in this role and also serving as a negotiation team member. State level activity includes service with the Michigan Nursing Action Coalition as the project leader for the Nurses on Boards Project. She is very excited to begin her journey at the National Level with the ANA.

Jaimee also believes that professional membership is an important professional responsibility and a necessity for the advancement of any profession. In alignmentment with this belief, Jaimee maintains memberships with the American Nurses Association (ANA), ANA-Michigan, Michigan Nursing Action Coalition, Sigma Theta Tau International, American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants, American Academy of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC), Greater Orlando Chapter of the AANC, American Society of Professionals in Patient Safety, National League for Nursing, National Education Association, Michigan Education Association, Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Association of Michigan, and is an Honorary Life-Time Member of the National Society of Leadership Success.

Jaimee has a passion for improving outcomes in patient care and has published her work on the implementation of relationship-based care in the December 2010 peer reviewed journal Nurse Leader, Improving patient outcomes with relationship-based care. As a public speaker Jaimee has delivered many keynote, conference session, and workshop presentations for a variety of health care and non-health care entities at the Local, State, and National Levels.  Specialty topics include but are not limited to, team building, the dark side of leadership, ownership in nursing, behavioral standards and organizational culture and performance, and various other leadership topics. 

Throughout her professional career Jaimee has also demonstrated a love for helping others grow and develop in this profession. In addition to her faculty role in which this is a responsibility, Jaimee dedicates additional time to mentoring nurses professionally. She is currently an ANA nurse mentor, has mentored nurses in the development of their own legal nurse business, and serves as a mentor for nurses who are achieving their Masters in Nursing. Currently, Jaimee is working with a MSN student who is completing her capstone project in nursing policy and political advocacy. Mentoring others is a very rewarding experience and regardless of where Jaimee is professionally or personally she will continue to do so. Also, in alignment with a commitment to service for others Jaimee is a volunteer mediator for the Eastern Upper Peninsula Dispute Resolution Center.

Jaimee is married, has four children, and a dog. She is a dedicated hockey mom who loves spending time together as a family. She enjoys water activities in the summer and snowshoeing in the winter and her favorite season is the fall. Holding true to her belief that nurses must work collaboratively, finding a common voice for the advancement of the profession, she is very excited to be involved with the ANA as a PAC Board member. Jaimee is excited to contribute using her experience and skills in nursing practice and leadership for the national advancement of nurses.
