Nurses instinctively advocate for their patients and in their workplace and communities— legislative, regulatory, and political advocacy is no less important to advancing the profession and patient care. Work Environment & Safety

Nurses Well-Being
Federal Legislation
Congress must pass the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Reauthorization Act (H.R. 7153/S. 3679). Take Action State

Federal Legislation

HHS must convene stakeholders to identify short- and long-term solutions to staffing challenges. OSHA must release a standard for workplace violence prevention in health care and social assistance. ANA and the nursing community's letter to OSHA CMS must use its enforcement authority to ensure hospitals within their purview are complying with safety requirements. State

Value of Nursing

Advance Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs)

Congress must pass the Improving Care and Access to Nurses (ICAN) Act (H.R. 2713/S. 2418) Take Action Regulatory & Policy
Medicare reimbursement to APRNs must be reformed to recognize the value of their care. CMS must remove barriers to APRN practice including implementation of provider nondiscrimination laws. State
ANA supports state associations’ efforts to expand Scope of Practice and move towards full practice authority. Payment Strategies
Regulatory & Policy
HHS Must Advance Strategies to Account Transparently for the Value of Nursing Care in Payment Methods. ANA urges HHS, particularly CMS payment policymakers, to align reimbursement and quality rewards with the provision of high-value nursing care.

Workforce Development & Education

Federal Legislation
Congress must pass the Nurse Faculty Shortage Reduction Act (H.R. 7002/S. 2815). Take Action Congress must pass the Future Advancement of Academic Nursing (FAAN) Act (H.R. 7266/S. 3770). Health Access and Outcomes

Federal Legislation Congress must pass the Black Maternal Health ‘Momnibus’ Act (H.R. 3305/S. 1606). Take Action Regulatory & Policy
HHS and its subagencies need to work closely with nurses as they look to identify and implement approaches to addressing access to care and improved outcomes. CMS must identify evidence-based policy interventions to ensure the best possible care for all patients and work within HHS to document and support nurse’s role in that care. State
ANA supports state efforts aimed at advancing health access and outcomes education and recognizing its crucial role in improving health outcomes for all individuals.

Contributions to ANA-PAC are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. Contributions to ANA-PAC are voluntary and used for political purposes. Contributions to ANA-PAC will be used in connection with federal elections and are subject to the prohibitions and limitations of the Federal Election Campaign Act. Any guidelines for contributing are merely suggestions and you may contribute more or less than the guidelines suggest or nothing at all. The Association will not favor or disadvantage anyone by reason of the amount of their contribution, or their decision not to contribute. You may refuse to contribute without reprisal. ANA-PAC only accepts money from eligible ANA members. Non-eligible donations will not be accepted. Federal law requires ANA-PAC to request and report the name, address, occupation and employer for each person whose contributions exceed two hundred dollars ($200.00) or more in a calendar year.
