Justin Gill is a family nurse practitioner in Washington
State and leader in health policy. He currently serves as a member of the
Legislative/Health Policy Council for both the Washington State Nurses
Association (WSNA) and ARNPs United of Washington State (AUWS). He has served
as a member of the ANA Presidential Advisory Taskforce and an alternate trustee
of ANA-PAC.
Prior to choosing nursing as a profession, Mr. Gill
initially expressed an interest in political science. He served as an intern
for Congressman Jerry McNerney’s district office in 2008. As a nursing student
and professional nurse, he has held leadership positions in his state nursing
organizations. He completed a fellowship with the American Nurses Advocacy
Institute (ANAI) in 2014. In 2014, Mr. Gill was honored to receive the ANA
Nurse Advocate Award in Washington, DC
Mr. Gill will be completing his Doctor of Nursing Practice
(DNP) degree at Yale University this year, with a focus on health policy and
leadership. As part of this program, he served as an intern with ANA GOVA staff
for a semester, which further strengthened his knowledge and understanding of
the political process. Mr. Gill believes that nurses have a professional
obligation to be politically active, and advocate for policies that impact
their patients and clinical practice. He looks forward to serving as a trustee
on the ANA-PAC, so that he can help bring the voice of nursing to Washington DC.
